Plymate’s 2021 Scholarship Winner

Since 1997, we’ve been memorializing our father, James Plymate, by providing a post-secondary education academic scholarship in his name. Over the years, there have been many Plymate employees’ children and grandchildren deservedly earn this award. And once again, we have a very deserving recipient, Robbie McClain, son of Tony and Beth!

Robbie has consistently taken advantage of all that Shelbyville High School has to offer as he’s leveraged every opportunity imaginable relating to his hobbies and plans for a career in public relations. Robbie has been involved in theater, show choir, radio, and was even the lead last year in Shelbyville’s Great Gatsby! He works extremely hard in the classroom and in additional leadership roles such as coaching Special Olympics, French Club, Business Professionals of America, and Champions Together.

Robbie’s teachers report that his work is always timely and he has a great school/life balance. He has also worked at Goodwill of Central Indiana, where his manager says that Robbie is charming, kind-hearted, and works well with any new hires they have, regardless of their backgrounds and abilities.

Robbie has chosen to study at Columbia College in Chicago this fall where he will major in public relations with a focus on mass media and social media management. With the James Plymate Scholarship Award, Robbie will receive $500/year for up to 4 consecutive school years.

Congratulations to Beth, Tony, and Robbie–we at Plymate wish him all the best next fall as he leaves Indiana and heads to Chicago!
